From the Blavatnik Archives, this is David Zekster in reaction to the Red Army’s Arrival in Bessarabia Moldavia, which was under Romanian/German rule when the Soviets occupied in 1940. Germany recaptured it in 1941. Eventually in 1944, after a Coup d’etat led by King Michael, Romania joined Russia in the fight against Germany and Soviet Forces occupied Romania, ending the fascist “Iron Guards” influence in that country, and rule of the fascist pro Nazi Dictator Maresal Ion Antonescue. 250,000 Romanian Jews were killed before this…by the Romanian army. Many more were spared by the Soviet victory there.
